Eagles and Lady Eagles:
As we navigate through these ever-changing events, please rest assure that the Luling ISD coaches and administrators are working toward a safe and productive return to athletics. On Tuesday July 21, the UIL released the fall sports schedule. All Fall 2020 Luling Athletics will start as previously scheduled. Cross Country has begun practice in the mornings under the direction of Coach Campos. Football and Volleyball will begin on Monday August 3rd at the times sent out by Coach DeCamp and Coach Martin. Junior High Volleyball and Football will start on Monday August 17. These practices will be in the mornings, and a detailed practice schedule will be released through the Junior High coaches the week of July 26.
We will practice all COVID-19 safety procedures including self-evaluations, temperature checks, and the disinfecting of locker rooms, weight rooms, and practice equipment. This will take place before, during, and after practice. We ask that each player bring his or her own gallon of water each day that is clearly marked with his or her name on it. A mask is required to be worn while entering and exiting the athletic facilities. It must be worn while the student transitions or is not actively engaged in exercise or drills. While engaged, it may be removed. The health and safety of our athletes is our top priority and will not be sacrificed in any way. Please remember this is an ever-changing situation and we will follow all CDC, UIL, and LISD policies as they are announced.
This year the UIL has waived physical requirements. If you have a physical on file from last year, it will be valid for the 2020-2021 school year. All other UIL paperwork will be required before we issue you any equipment. This paper work is due ASAP and can be picked up at the athletic office or from Coach Yager. All incoming 7th Grade athletes will need a current physical for the 2020-2021 school year. The physical form is included in the paper work packet from Coach Yager.
For the first four weeks of the school year, athletes will remain as remote learners. All practices will be before or after school at designated times. After the first four weeks, ALL athletes assigned to an athletic period will be required to attend that athletic period at the scheduled time. This includes both in-season and off-season athletes as well as face to face and remote learners. All other requirements for athletic participation remain the same as found in the Athletic Guidelines.
As we receive more information, we will distribute it on the school’s website, Facebook, and other social media outlets.
Looking forward to a great year and Talons Up!!!!
